Tidbits in History on the Lollipop
Ellen Press Los Angeles, CA / Voiceover Reel
The history of the lollipop actually goes back thousands of years to ancient Africa, Asia, Egypt and other regions. Honey was first used for sweetness and as a preservative. They started off as soft candies. Did the term “lollipop” originate from the name of a race horse or the term, “lolly pop” meaning tongue slap?
