We connected with a London-based creative team pull off a $100k shoot in 10 days. They were looking for an on-the-ground producer with full DICE production insurance who could provide 30 crew members, 12 cast members, locations, wardrobe & art direction…. We took a deep breath and dove right in!
The spot was for the FIBA World Cup and featuring NBA star Jordan Clarkson, who is based in San Antonio during the off season, so we started scouting in San Antonio for a gym and a restaurant with a courtyard.
We were able to secure the University of the Incarnate Word Gym, and brought in huge flags to black it out for special effects. For our lighting setup, we rigged 4 Apurture 1200d’s in a moonbox above the court. We shot on a ARRI Alexa Mini LF with Canon FD lenses and went back and forth between a Steadicam Trinity and EZ Rig and rickshaw. We finished the day at La Margarita, where we shot the outdoor shots in the toasty Texas heat.
This was one of our biggest and most challenging shoots, but we were able to pull off a beautiful result. Thank you to Aaron Aziz and Makers for bringing us on, and a huge thanks to the hard work of the crew that made this one a success!
