Chris serves as the primary antagonist in the story, constantly antagonizing Marcus with his racist remarks and bigoted behavior. He takes pleasure in pushing Marcus’s buttons and delights in watching him squirm uncomfortably under his verbal attacks. When Chris’s microaggressions escalate into outright racism, it triggers a violent reaction from Marcus, setting off a chain of events that will ultimately change the course of their lives forever.
