Sacramento Production Assistant
About
Amee Van is currently a second year student at the University of Southern California, studying biomedical engineering with the hope of leveraging film and media to improve healthcare accessibility. Since Amee was young, she would always carry around her Sony vlog camera, taking short videos of visually appealing things she saw. As she got older, she began to refine her interest in filmmaking by taking several courses in high school. She became the lead producer and anchor of her high school’s broadcasting team. Amee directed her school’s”Every 15 Minutes”, a 30-minute film on the consequences of drinking and driving, which was shown to all juniors and seniors. Throughout the years, Amee has made a variety of short films, music videos, and documentaries. In 2022, Amee was accepted to a prestigious art program (California State Summer School of the Arts) that took place for a month that taught students about filmmaking, where she studied under several Los Angeles directors, including Frederick Thornton, Asuka Lin, and Charlie Schmidlin. She also got to hear from visiting artists such as Lee Lynch, Lissette Feliciano, and production designers. There, Amee produced short films and documentaries with other young aspiring filmmakers.
