Music Video – Love Without Lust
Lucas Salm-Rojo Seattle, WA / Music
For this project I operated both as the DP and because I have a relationship with the client, the Director.
I used colored filters specially made for black and white photography to change the contrast and characteristics of the monochromatic image once it becomes de-saturated in post. This is an older technique used by earlier black and white photographers of the 20th century. Photographers like Ansel Adams used filters like this to change the end result of his landscape photographs. That’s one of the reasons why his images are so striking in comparison to just a photo of a mountain with all the colors take out that someone with less experience might produce.
We shot this on Arri Alexa Mini LF with Atlas Mercury anamorphic lenses.
