Filmed in South Korea - I shot, cut, mixed, color graded , and even did the VO on this one. The USAF was in need of a new trainer aircraft for fighter pilots and Lockheed Martin teamed up with Korean Aerospace Industries to develop the T-50A as their entry into the competition. I flew with the Republic of Korea Air Force in another (earlier version) T-50 to film the aerials.
I operated on this project DP'd by Shane Hurlbut, ASC. This was a cross promotion event for Jeep and the latest release of Call of Duty. Attendees were given a ride through an obstacle course (driven by stunt drivers). The entire course was under siege by Somali pirates with gunfire and explosions at every turn. When the budgets are tight, location scouting, prep, and scheduling pay huge dividends. We had one day to film this project. We shot in-studio interviews, a studio shoot, and five outdoor locations. Luckily the weather cooperated. Kerri Brookins approached me to capture her work as a portrait photographer. There's always a little added pressure when you're filming for another artist.
This is a testimonial video for American Legend Aircraft, based in Sulphur Springs, TX. American Legend builds custom bush planes based on the Piper Cub platform. Each aircraft is a one-off unique to the specifications of the buyer. As an airplane enthusiast, I love filming for this company. I've flown all over the country with them filming and photographing their aircraft.
This mini-doc was a passion project of mine. I filmed this solo, in just one wild weekend hanging out with this insane flying club. We started in the small West Texas town of Slaton, flew bush planes into a remote ranch to capture some low-level shenanigans, and then took a private jet to an air show in Arizona to hang out with Jeff Boerboon who flies the famous Yak 110.
Mini-doc on the first flight tests of the F-35B onboard the HMS Queen Elizabeth (Britain's largest warship). I spent over a month onboard the ship filming flight tests from the deck, hangars, and rescue helicopters. Capturing the raw power and coordinated mayhem of an aircraft carrier is an experience I'll never forget.
