Media and film
In the capital city Amman Jordan I worked in the film and media industry for 3 years. The first year was hard work because this industry is still a developing field, as opposed to Lebanon or Egypt, in Jordan vacancies were limited and arrogantly competitive. Networking and building connections and being passionately focused on getting the work done was key for me to get my foot through the door. I’ve worked in different departments that allowed me to gain new skills in communication, coordination and design. I found a comfortable flow in the production and art departments.
Medical interpreter IOM and Red Cross
Providing accurate interpretation and translation of critical medical information between English speaking health care providers and Arabic speaking patients and paramedics. Awareness of cultural sensitivity issues and avoiding cultural misunderstandings. Maintaining strict patient confidentiality of records and information. This fast paced environment allowed me to build my communication skills and medical terminology in both English and Arabic and learn more about the Syrian refugee crisis.
