Patty Mooney joined forces with Mark Schulze at Crystal Pyramid Productions in 1982. With a career now spanning over four decades, Patty’s multifaceted talents include: Producer, Editor, Sound Technician, Boom Pole Operator, Voice Over artist, Still Photographer, Teleprompter Operator, Writer, and Talent. Her presence and contributions have been instrumental in the enduring success of Crystal Pyramid Productions, San Diego’s longest-serving and most accomplished video production company.

Among her pioneering works are trailblazing educational videos “Massage For Relaxation” (1985), “The Great Mountain Biking Video” (1987), and “Common Sense Self Defense for Women” (1985), each pushing the boundaries of their respective genres. Her remarkable contributions to extreme sports videos have earned her San Diego Magazine’s 2023 People’s Choice Award as “Pioneer in Sports & Entertainment.” She was one of the first seven mountain bikers to conquer the treacherous First-Ever Himalayan Mountain Bike Rally. She was the first woman to embark on an underwater mountain biking expedition off the coast of Costa Rica, and probably the first and only woman to mountain bike inside the fiery depths of the Turrialba Volcano while it was still semi-active.

A fervent advocate for vital social causes, she leveraged her skills to co-create “The Invisible Ones: Homeless Combat Veterans,” a film that sheds light on the struggles faced by homeless veterans. Released in 2008, the film garnered multiple awards for its compelling storytelling and powerful message. Patty has also collaborated pro bono with various non-profit organizations, including Earth Day, Girls Think Tank, Peace Resource Center, and the San Carlos Area Council. She believes in the transformative power of media.

Patty’s latest project, “NECTARBALL: The Story of Cannabis,” chronicles the journey of this complex plant, weaving together its history, cultural significance, through conversations with luminaries from around the world including Tommy Chong, Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, Danny Danko, Nurse Heather and dozens of others. “I love how great this movie is,” says John Salley. Skunk Magazine calls it “A brilliant documentary.” And CelebStoner chose it as Documentary of the Year 2023.
