DP and editing work for Poverello House. Directed by Joel Janecek and Edited by Justin McAleece. The Pov’s story is foundational to who they are and what they do. Born in Franciscan tradition that moved its founder, “Papa” Mike McGarvin, to start giving away PB&J sandwiches on the streets of downtown Fresno, the organization he started has grown to provide millions of free meals and become an innovative service provider. The modern Poverello House employs over a hundred people, performs outreach… View the Video
Director Joel Janecek and DP’s Mauricio Tapia and Justin McAleece, decided to attempt a variety of setups to tell this story. We filmed a large roundtable of board members, many of whom worked with Papa Mike to build the modern organization seen today. We filmed traditional sit-down interviews, and captured Papa Mike’s widow and “First Volunteer” Mary McGarvin, and their daughter Clare McGarvin, taking us inside the family home for an intimate portrait of a modern organization that stays true… View the Video
Directing, DP, and editing work for Graco at the Gallo Winery. Shot it inside a silo to showcase their new vapor abrasive blast equipment technology to potential clients and trade show attendees. During the shoot, I explored various angles and techniques to highlight the water-based machine blasting process, with a focus on capturing the intricacies of the vapor abrasive blast equipment and its impact on the winery's operations. I used a Sony FS5ii and a DJI Mavic 2 Pro for… View the Video

This was an end of the semester final project. This was developed, shot, and then edited over the course of three weeks. I wrote the script, created the storyboards, and edited the picture to completion. Savanna Torres co-wrote the story, location scouted, filmed, and directed the footage of the picture.
This project was a very serious undertaking for me. This PSA I produced for my Filmmaking 2 class, was my attempt to get the word out. To inspire the youth of the nation to stop being so chronically online. To go out and #TouchGrass.
In addition to helping set up the event and striking everything down, including cameras, audio mixing, and livestream equipment, I was one of the camera operators for the event. Primarily capturing close ups and any tighter shots that we would cut to using JVC 850 cameras.
This was a fun exercise as an editor. The question of, how do you earn and maintain an audience's attention? This 11 minute video was cut from over two hours of generating words, art, and conversations about the future of AI. To help keep the video cohesive, each section has its own a musical theme that helps tie it together with B-Roll and commentary about AI and it's role in our society. We used ChatGPT (a chatbot launched by OpenAI)… View the Video
My second documentary project I focused on the "Great Resignation" by talking to employees and management at a small local movie theater. Part of the agreement that allowed me to talk to these individuals and record while they were working was I was only allowed to bring in a camera and a tripod. That posed a particular lighting challenge. I also wanted to make the audience feel like we were on the clock with them, so there are many quite… View the Video
My first venture into Documentary. I wanted to explore the larger discussion of immigration going on in the country at the time on the most personal level. We zoom in on Myriam, a Chilean immigrant, watching as she prepares a dish from her childhood and contemplates how the immigrant experience has stagnated and changed. I learned quite a bit from this experience. I can look back and see all of the things I would do differently here (shot selection, how… View the Video

My 2022 demo reel consists of different types of editing I have been involved with recently. Ranges from animation to speed warping and community-based story editing. Most of these videos were done at my local news station, where they were quickly and efficiently put together.
I put together a quick demo reel with some commercial and film work that I've done. I don't have access to all of my titles and some things are on DVD's. I have individual links I can send if needed.
Just a few things I've done. An amazing parody called pretty Wonder Woman (pretty woman and wonder woman mash up, a rap video where I played undercover cop and a couple of commercials. Working on a new reel now. I will post my new one here once it is completed.

Every August in Madera, California, over 10,000 volunteers gather to pick grapes from an 80-acre vineyard that is solely devoted to producing raisins used for humanitarian aid. This video made possible with funding from the Central Valley Community Foundation. Part of The Big Tell film contest 2018.
A couple friends of mine were disappointed with their results from some tortilla recipes online that they have been trying during the shelter at home directive because of COVID-19. We are in quarantine because of Coronavirus in Fresno so we decided to make this video since we can't share in person. My abuela taught me how to make tortillas and I'm happy to share.
